Mark your calendars for the 2012 Open Ocean Regatta, to be held on Sunday, April 22. Register today a regattacentral.com. As always the Regatta will feature a range of courses for rowers of any experience level, in shells or “traditional boats”, including the 7.6nm Diablo Course, stretching out in to the Golden Gate to reach Diablo Point. Of course, the races will be followed by a barbeque at the OWRC boathouse.
Information about entering will be posted soon. We will also need many volunteers to help on the water or back at the boathouse; sign-up at OWRC. Look for special regatta-prep clinics in the weeks leading up to the event.
Tides should be light for this year’s event. We will start close to slack and row through a building flood, peaking at 12:08 pm, well after the completion of the regatta. If you’ve never tried the Diablo Course, this is your year!
