If you are an experienced rower welcome to an exciting new rowing experience. We have a unique rower’s “playground” just beyond our dock, but before you can enjoy it you need to get checked out by our coaches and certified to use our equipment and facilities. Give us a call and talk to the staff about your experience and interest and and they will tailor the right check-out class for you.
Rowed sweeps in college but have never sculled?
That’s great experience, but sculling is sufficiently different that you will want to take some of our “Learning to Row” class at first. Speak to the coaches about whether a full or abbreviated class is best. You’ll be certified as “novice” but as an experienced rower will likely progress quickly.
Sculled in flat-water racing shells? Rowed “traditional” rowing boats?
Our coaches will want to give you an orientation to our boats and waters. Speak to them about your type and level of experience. When they are happy with your handling of our boats you will be certified to row in Richardson Bay. Rowers with lots of sculling experience may move quickly to take the Rough-Water Clinic and other advanced courses.
Experienced Open-Water Rower?
You must be eager to get back out there! We understand. You will need to be checked out and oriented to our boats, boathouse and waters. How much orientation and where you will be certified depend on your specific experience and how the coach feels about your rowing. Call or drop by and speak to them. They’ll get you out on the water in short order.
