OWRC is one of the most ideal year-round coastal rowing training and development centers on the west coast of the United States.

After years of growth on the international stage, coastal rowing is exploding in popularity in the United States. So much so that Coastal Rowing was just added to the lineup at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

At Open Water Rowing Center in Sausalito, California, we have enjoyed a closely related type of rowing for over 40 years.   • Around Alcatraz (16km), on waters made infamous by well-known escape attempts.

  • Combined Alcatraz and Angel Island (20km).

  • To and around Red Rock in the northern part of SF Bay (23km).

  • Golden Gate Bridge. (10.5km round-trip)

  • Outside the Golden Gate, along the Marin shoreline out to Points Diablo (15km) and Bonita (21km).

  • Around Angel Island (15km), rounding the legendary Point Blunt, and crossing dynamic Raccon Straight.
