MembersHip
Regular use of Open Water Rowing Center facilities requires a membership. Getting started at OWRC or visiting from out of town, however, does not require a membership. You can learn to row in the Bay Rower Program, get transition training from flat-water rowing, or get checked-out as a currently competent open water or coastal rower, before needing to join. Out-of-town guests who want to row in San Francisco Bay are also welcome to rent a limited number of times per year after they have been checked-out by our staff.
Once joined, membership benefits include:
Ability to rent club rowing shells any time we are open.
Ability to store a personal shell in the Liz Stone Boathouse (additional storage fee).
Discounted rental rates.
Opportunity to participate in organized skill-development clinics and workshops.
Opportunity to join motor-boat-supported group rows to fun destinations.
Courtesy motor-boat support for non-emergency situations, when available. (Always call 911 or the US Coast Guard by cell phone or with a VHF radio when in any kind of emergency situation, or one that could potentially become an emergency - do not wait, call for help and start the response chain early.)
Use of our private dock at Schoonmaker Marina.
Use of the showers and locker rooms at Schoonmaker Marina.
Schoonmaker Marina parking permit.
Free group events.
Sausalito Yacht Club reciprocal guest privileges.
10% discount on all OWRC merchandise.
current Membership rate:

Volunteerism AT OWRC
We are a volunteer-run organization. We do hire one staff member to be on-hand during open hours, and instructors to teach and coach, but all operations at OWRC are run by volunteers. Please enquire about how you can help!
