Fitness for Rowers
ERG AT HOME
Concept 2 has some excellent resources available for those who have an Erg at home. In addition to their longstanding Workouts of the Day (WOD), they’ve been publishing quarantine-specific content on their Concept2 blog, and compiling resources for training from home, including links to free Working out of Home classes. They are actively filling up the Concept2 Facebook feed with resources for training, coaches, and live training sessions and their Instagram feed features lots of timely resources saved in the pinned stories.
GET OUTSIDE
If it’s available and safe for you - get outside! There’s no better way to exercise and enjoy the outdoors while maintaining a safe distance from other people. Running, cycling, hiking, and even getting out for a walk will have a huge impact on your well-being. Need some motivation? Nike Run Club app is free, easy to use, gives great on-the-go and historic information, and offers an impressive library of guided runs.
MEDITATION
Headspace is a meditation app that provides a staggering amount of specialized sessions for everything from learning how to meditate, to dealing with anxiety and stress, to sports training. To help support you through this time of crisis, they are offering free meditations you can listen to anytime. These are part of a free collection in the Headspace app called Weathering the storm. It includes meditations, sleep, and movement exercises to help you out, however you’re feeling.
The New York Times published a great web guide ‘How to get strong’ with lots of information about at home training. You can download a one-page guide here (PDF)
